Rory Storm and the Hurricanes were the first Liverpool group to turn professional when they were offered a season at Butlin’s Holiday Camp in Pwllheli, Wales.

They were a huge hit, following up with offers to play at other Butlin’s camps, like Skegness too.

This was a great experience, one which their drummer, Ringo Starr, would set him up for the showbusiness of being in the Fab Four two years later.
